Leaves & Storm 9/4/25

Bearden UMC Community Garden - Leaves & Storm 9/4/25

This week, we were able to get all of the mulched leaves layers on the garden beds. Today, we had quite the storm with hail and strong winds. An old kids pool that held dirt was blown across the garden and ended up at the far fence. A tarp that was over the old plastic dividers has blown away to who knows where. A huge limb came down next to the west parking lot. The garden beds all got watered.

My cabinet with gloves for volunteers and sign-in sheet was blown over during the Thursday storm.
A big branch came down during the Thursday afternoon storm.
Before the storm, the beds were looking good and the blue kiddies pool and brown tarp were in place.
On Tuesday, Lindsey took a picture of  Tony and I. Tony has been a great garden friend, who helped move manure, compost, grass, and leaves. He is headed back to Altanta and family. I will miss his help.
The final layer of leaves is placed on the beds. The bed are ready for God and nature to take over for a couple of month in the composting process.

On Thursday evening, I got a call from Lindsey and she spotted my tarp high up in the tree. We will see if we can retrieve it. My garden friends are gathering on Friday morning to plant kale and collard green donated to us from UT Gardens.

Thanks,
Leigh
